The Ducal Order of Albrecht the Bear was founded on November 18, 1836, the anniversary of Albrecht the Bear’s death, by the three dukes Heinrich of Anhalt-Köthen, Leopold IV of Anhalt-Dessau, and Alexander Carl of Anhalt-Bernburg as a joint order. The purpose of the order is to preserve and promote the values of the Christian West, to remain loyal to and support the ducal house, to engage in charitable work, and to contribute to the cultural and social development of our country.
